Belleville — Belleville police are warning residents as they search for a suspicious person Friday.

According to authorities, around 8:15am Wednesday, a 12-year-old female was waiting for the school bus near 35th and Roland Ave when a black male approached her.

The man is described as in his 20's, driving a newer model white four door Oldsmobile with Illinois temporary plates.

Investigators said the Jr. High studen twas approached and asked if she needed a ride to school. The student reportedly ignored the driver and walked back toward her home. According to police, the man then drove around the block and approached the student a second time and said "get in the car so I can take you to school".

Authorities said the school bus arrived and the man then left the area. Police are still searching for him.
