North St. Louis — About 20,000 African American men are expected to march through north St. Louis on Sunday, June 1 to reclaim their communities through reconciliation, respect for the other and the sanctity of life.

It's part of a communitywide initiative "A Call To Oneness." Organizers said the march is a communitywide initiative designed to bring together African American males from all walks of life.

The march will culminate a weekend of workshops, panel discussions and informational forums.

The march will start at 2 p.m., Sunday, June 1 at the Roberts Building, the Old Sears building, at the intersection of Kingshighway and Dr. Martin Luther King Drive.

It will proceed along the old May Day parade route and end at Tandy Park near Sumner High School.

The weekend will kick off with a "State of Emergency" Panel Discussion on May 30, followed by "A Day of Information and Implementation" on Sat., May 31. Organizers said a series of classes which deal with moral issues and concerns facing African American men will be held throughout the day.
