PACIFIC, MO —
The city of Pacific says it wants to move forward with a voluntary buyout program for residents with flood-prone property along the Meramec River.
The city received 117 responses to a survey asking residents if they want to pursue buyouts through a federal program.
Only 11 people said they weren't interested.
But the community outside of St. Louis must cover 25 percent of the program's cost and needs to figure out a way to do that.
City officials say they may ask for money from a state "rainy-day fund."
About 200 homes and businesses in Pacific were damaged during river flooding in March.
