South St. Louis — One small grocery store in south St.Louis is different than most corner stores. This store supports local farmers, bakers and customers. Watch

There's a grocery store in south St.Louis on Morganford that depends on local farmers for most of their produce and meat. "Some farmers grow just for us, and other ones, we go to week to week for what we need in the summer," said Maddie Earnest, Owner of Local Harvest Grocery.

In addition to being a local grocery store they also cater and deliver. "We're trying to offer catering in a different way. We offer organic foods and prepare them in a different way," said Earnest.

Nick Jones is a nutritionist and fitness trainer. He partners with Local Harvest Grocery and offers fresh produce to clients in his West County facility.

He especially likes the local angle. "The dollar that is exchanged locally every time changes locally six times," said Jones.

Perhaps the best seller here are eggs. They don't look like they do in commercial grocery stores. "We sell a lot of eggs and milk from Heartland Diary, and we sell local cheeses," Earnest.

And if you have a sweet tooth and want to support local bakers, the local harvest grocery is the place to go.
