Color Me Bad!
I have recently shopped for paint at a home improvement store, and I have seen lots of people confused about what color paint to choose. Some had no idea where to start, if the color will make there décor, or some chose a different color for every room. WOW! Here's some tips to help you when you decide to paint:
- If you are not sure; pick a neutral color. Picking a neutral color is always safe and can be easily changed later on to something more vibrant.
- Everything does not have to match exactly. Mix and match your colors. The rule is 60/30/10. 60% of your main color, 30% of your accent color, and 10% of something unexpected.
- The colors you choose, relates to your personality. I like earth toned colors like the gold/bronze colors on the wheel. These colors gives the feeling of rich and friendly. What's your personality color? Let me know.
Lights On, Lights Off
Lighting is a key part of your decorating project. If you don't have enough light, you design can appear dull, and dark, too much light bring the focus to the lights only. If you have lamps, your lamp should create a "triangle" in your room. The lamps should be placed in three key areas that will distribute light evenly. Lighting can also be expensive. Here are some tips to making your old lighting become new.
- Paint the lamp stem, and base a new color to add life.
- Attach your favorite trim to the lamp shade.
- Add ribbon, fringe, beads or silk flowers with hot glue for creativity and pop.
- Paint stencils on your canvas lamp shades to personalize.
- Attach your favorite place mats to the lamp shades for originality.
- Add you favorite metal, link belt to the trim of your lamp shade with metal glue, and hold with clothes pins until the glue dries.
